Survivalist slouch hat

Sideways knit. Simple. Awesome.

Here in Portland, when it snows- the whole city shuts down. Snow day! People are cross country skiing in the street- and i am greatfull for all the warm stuff I knit.

Survivalist slouchy hat.
I used wool, Classy Dream in Color  Black Pearl
I knit this on a pair of size 5 needles, with worsted weight yarn- for a super tight knit that is not gunna let on the cold.
The yarn I used is a hand died wool. I have made this yarn with some antique wool acrylic blend yarn made in post ww2 Germany for a super durable- weird smelling hat that is super warm.

Cast on 70 stitches
Knit one row
Knit 55 stitches, then turn slip a stitch and knit row
Knit 56 stitches then turn , slip a stitch and knit row
Knit 57 stitches then turn, slip a stitch and knit row
Continue on like this, knitting one past where you knit before, turn and knit rest of row until you have knit 70.
Repeat this 5 times.
Bind off.
Sew up sides with mattress stitch.
Put on your head.
Really warm.
